Aberdeen Drilling School was founded in 1982 and has long been recognised as a leader in well control training, offering both public courses and in-house training.
The flagship training centre in Aberdeen is home to two full-size rig-floor simulators, 6 classrooms, various portable simulators, a dedicated customer service team, finance and administration departments, an expert technical advisory team, and a skilled graphics and animations team to support and facilitate world-class training.
In 2011, Aberdeen Drilling International was contracted to provide drilling instructors for the Rigman program, conducted for the Saudi Petroleum Services Polytechnic (SPSP) in Dammam, KSA. Within two years, this program was expanded to include intakes of approximately 150 trainees at any time. A dedicated Construction & Drilling Training Centre was opened that included classrooms, workshops, rig-floor drilling simulators, and a training rig. Aberdeen Drilling International is responsible for managing the drilling training components of this program and is currently operating with a team of 10 instructors lead by a highly experienced training manager.
After working extensively throughout Asia Pacific for a number of years delivering our rig-site services, Aberdeen Drilling School decided to establish a full-time presence in the region to support the delivery of international accredited well control courses.
In late 2014 Aberdeen Drilling International (Malaysia) was established and in 2015 upgraded to become the premier well control training centre in the region with a new simulator suite and three interactive classrooms. The training centre in Kuala Lumpur now runs public Well Control and Well Intervention Pressure Control courses on a weekly basis and delivers interactive simulation teaching to the Asian drilling and well services industry.
In 2012, Aberdeen Drilling International (Oman) was launched with the opening of a regional office and training facility in Muscat. IADC and IWCF accredited well control courses have been delivered at the training centre in Muscat and across the Middle East region at the offices and training venues of major clients.
The team in Muscat has worked closely with major clients such as Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) to upskill new-start drilling engineers with specialist training in well engineering delivered in Muscat and in Aberdeen. In addition to these short specialist courses, Aberdeen Drilling International has contributed to workforce development in the Middle East by providing the drilling expertise to support nationalisation programmes.
Aberdeen Drilling International have partnered with Kopen Education and Learning Centre (KELC) to offer our full suite of drilling, well services and well engineering training in Indonesia.
Both IWCF & IADC accredited Well Control & Intervention courses for drilling and well services professionals are available at our accredited training centres in Jakarta and Bandung. Public courses in Stuck Pipe Prevention and HPHT Drilling are also available throughout 2016. Our Bahasa-speaking instructors have the technical expertise and the practical experience to support the competency objectives and certification requirements of our clients across the Asia Pacific region.
