Overview

This training is designed as a practical introduction to the automated pipe handling equipment, control system, procedures, and operations of the customer’s NOV AMPHION™ Workstation. Effective AMPHION™ Operator training and coaching, will raise the confidence and competence levels of the operators and will help to reduce non-productive time events, subsequently improving operational performance standards and revenue efficiency.

The main focus of the AMPHION™ Operator training is towards learning the configuration and operation of the AMPHION™ Workstation and the AMPHION™ Human Machine Interface (HMI), allowing participants to demonstrate their ability to effectively navigate the screen displays, operation of the discrete controls and joystick functions of the drilling related equipment for hoisting, circulating, rotating and pipe handling.

The practical training will focus on achieving the objectives so that participants are able to demonstrate improvement of personnel skills, competence, and the development of confidence.

Designed For

This course is designed for AMPHION™ Workstation Operators in rig-based positions such as Senior Toolpusher, Tourpusher, Driller, Assistant Driller and Derrickhand.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal pre-requisites for this type of training; however, this course has been designed for personnel with drill floor and rig supervision responsibilities. Candidate suitability and base knowledge will be discussed and agreed with the client in the initial stages of course development.

Course Delivery

This on-the-job training programme is delivered at the client’s rig site location and combines practical hands on training with lecture discussions, PowerPoint presentations and self-study with a training manual and handouts. With emphasis on QHS&E, the training will cover the main pipe handling and drilling operations following the client’s Policies and Drilling Operations Procedures.

Certification

A written assessment and a practical assessment will be conducted on the last day of training. The pass mark for both theoretical assessment and practical assessment is 85%. Successful completion of the training and assessments will result in an Aberdeen Drilling School certificate which is does not need to be renewed.
