Overview

The aim of this training programme is to provide Trainee Competence Assessors with the necessary knowledge and skills required to perform Competence Assessments. On successful completion of the course, learners will be able to conduct workplace assessments to OPITO standards and/or to company in-house competence standards.

Designed For

This course has been developed for individuals within an organisation who are designated to be Competence Assessors.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal educational pre-requisites for this training, however, it is the employer’s responsibility to elect appropriate learners from within their organisation to be trained as Competence Assessor. The learners must have;

  • access to two candidates undergoing an assessment process in the workplace,
  • experience and/or training relevant to the area/discipline they will be assessing, and
  • the time available to complete all portfolio and assessment requirements within a 12-month period.

Course Delivery

This 2-day instructor-led course is conducted through a series of demonstrations and lectures. During the programme, learners are given practical exercises to complete under supervision, giving them the opportunity to seek clarification and/or advice where necessary. The training can be delivered at one of our training centres or at the client’s location.

Certification

Upon completion of the initial training, and to be eligible for OPITO certification, learners will need to also complete 2 x competence assessments at their workplace within the following 12-month period. Once all documentation is submitted and reviewed, the OPITO certification will be issued to the successful learner(s) and recorded in the Vantage database system. This is a one-time certificate which does not need to be renewed.
