Overview

The aim of the Internal Verifier programme is to enable trainee Internal Verifiers to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills which underpin the tasks to be performed as an Internal Verifier. On successful completion of the initial 1-day course and subsequent submission of a portfolio containing workplace evidence which meets OPITO requirements, the learner will be able to conduct Internal Verification tasks to OPITO and/or company in-house standards.

Designed For

This course has been developed for individuals within an organisation who are designated to be Internal Verifiers.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal educational pre-requisites for this training, however, it is the employer’s responsibility to elect appropriate candidates from within their organisation to be trained as Internal Verifier and provide the resources necessary to complete evidential workplace assessments.

Learners must have;

  • access to two assessors undergoing the verification process in the workplace, and
  • the time available to complete all portfolio and assessment requirements within a 12-month period.

Course Delivery

This 1-day instructor-led course is conducted through a series of demonstrations and lectures delivered by the OPITO approved Instructor/Assessor. During the programme, learners are given practical exercises to complete under supervision, giving them the opportunity to seek clarification and/or advice where necessary.

The initial training can be delivered at one of our training centres or at the client’s location. If the training is to take place at the client’s premises, the client will be required to provide floor plans, details of emergency procedures and other relevant HSEQ documentation as per OPITO standards.

Upon completion of the initial training, the learners will have the required knowledge and skills to successfully gather the workplace evidence required to achieve OPITO certification.

Certification

To be eligible for OPITO certification, learners will need to complete the initial training and a portfolio of workplace evidence within the following 18-month period. Once all documentation is submitted and reviewed, the OPITO certification will be issued to the successful learner and recorded in the Vantage database system. This is a one-time certificate which does not need to be renewed.
