Background

As we approach the 5 year milestone, we look back to 2017, when we first began delivering our IWCF accredited programmes in Assen, Netherlands.

Aberdeen Drilling School was invited to tender for a training contract with an O&G supermajor. The client was seeking a single-source provider of IWCF Drilling and IWCF Well Intervention courses to be delivered at NAM Training Centre on a monthly basis.

Citing our ability to oversee and maintain IWCF accreditation, develop course material in metric units, our global reputation for quality, and our ability to provide experienced IWCF accredited instructors on a regular basis, the client awarded Aberdeen Drilling School the contract.  We swiftly began the process of accrediting the classrooms, simulator room, and assessment rooms within NAM Training Centre and scheduled our first public course for September 2017. We welcomed delegates from international and national operators within the first few weeks of opening.

Trusted partners

Working closely with the our clients, their training management agents, and the facilities team at NAM Training Centre, we have built lasting relationships over the years and expanded our course offerings to include Introductory Level training and specialist High Pressure Hight Temperature (HPHT) Drilling Operations training.

With cooperation from local entities and the management team in Aberdeen, we successfully passed our IWCF Audit in 2018 with 0 corrective actions and received high praise for our management procedures and the quality of the instruction provided by our IWCF Instructor.

Feedback from delegates has been gratefully received over the years, with continued high praise for the quality of instruction.

“A very useful course for my job role. The teacher adjusted very well to the skill level of trainees.” Perf Supervisor, IWCF L4 Well Intervention

“Good in-depth discussions. Practical, real life situations. Loved the instructor for his relevant experience.” C&WI Supervisor, IWCF L4 Well Intervention

Transition to virtual insutructor-led training

In 2020, like many others, we had to adapt quickly to changing COVID-19 safety protocols and transitioned from in-person to virtual training. Without compromising on quality, we successfully moved our training to a virtual environment. Our digital platform facilitates instructor-led teaching with live presentations, interactive breakout sessions on virtual whiteboards, interactive exercises, and online assessments and quizzes, all from the safety & comfort of your own work-space.

Future Plans

As we continue to deliver our virtual training and assessments, we have expanded our reach to delegates in remote locations, offering a consistent gold standard of certified training on a global scale.

With hopes of returning to in-person training over the next year, we are excited to see new training opportunities on the horizon for drilling operations personnel with our latest advanced simulation technology recently gaining IWCF approval for practical assessments.

We also continue to roll out our IWCF Subsea Well Intervention module. As one of only a few accredited training providers in the  world to offer this training at multiple locations and virtually, we are seeing demand increase exponentially.

As part of the RelyOn Nutec group we are excited to see our global reach expanded with new centres and a rapidly growing portfolio of elearning courses. At the time of writing, RelyOn Nutec has over 180 elearning courses available in various languages and has plans to open a new state-of-the-art training centre in Eemshaven, Netherlands in 2023.
