Aberdeen Drilling School, part of the RelyOn Nutec Group, is a leading training and consultancy provider for the global oil and gas industry. We are looking to grow our team of instructors to support the international delivery of industry leading training.

 

Position Summary

The Completions, Workover & Well Intervention Instructor, reporting to Centre Manager in Aberdeen, will deliver the accredited (IWCF and IADC) range of Well Intervention Pressure Control courses on a weekly basis in Aberdeen (UK), but could also be involved in the preparation and delivery of bespoke training courses to the well services industry at various global locations. This role is for a position based in our Aberdeen city centre training facilities, with opportunities for worldwide travel.

Job duties/responsibilities
  • Operational responsibilities:
    • Deliver high quality teaching and coaching using Aberdeen Drilling School’s training material to the standards required of the company and the accreditation bodies IWCF and IADC.
    • Undertake coaching and competency assessment of completions, workover and well intervention crews both in the classroom and rig-site.
  • Quality assurance responsibilities:
    • Support development and continuous improvement of Aberdeen Drilling School’s Well Intervention Pressure Control courses and associated course material.
    • Monitor the outcomes from each course delivered and make the necessary improvements in teaching method and course materials as required
    • Ensure that the courses are composed and delivered to the required syllabus set by the accrediting bodies.
  • Business development responsibilities:
    • Engagement with the customer service improvement initiatives to ensure that the client experience is to the required company standard.
Person specification

Candidates who can demonstrate good communication skills with high levels of knowledge and field experience will be considered and trained appropriately in order to become an accredited instructor.

To be an accredited Well Intervention Pressure Control Instructor for IWCF requires that the candidate hold a Supervisory Level Well Intervention Pressure Control certificate and have at least two years of relevant operational experience to relay detailed information on Completion Equipment, Completion Operations and an understanding of Wireline, Coiled Tubing and Snubbing Operations.

The company also undertakes competency assessment, performance improvement, well engineering, well integrity and P&A courses. Experience in these fields would be a distinct advantage.

Experience & Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a workover supervisory position is preferred; at a manager, superintendent or workover supervisor level. Wireline and coiled tubing operators will be considered based on their experience.
  • Must be technically competent and show a high level of knowledge in the field
  • Must currently hold or have recently held an IWCF or IADC Well Control certificate at Supervisory Level, preferably with a score above 90% or above in all modules
  • Teaching or coaching experience would be beneficial
  • Technical qualifications would be preferred
  • Experience in subsea well intervention would be beneficial
